Born in Hong Kong, Sascha received her BA (HONS) Degree in Fine Art from the University of Creative Arts in the UK. Since then she has furthered her Fine Art education at schools both in the UK and in the US. After graduation she spent the early part of her career working in London with esteemed artists and photographers such as Don McCullin and Richard Caldicott who for different reasons still continue to inspire her work.
Sascha is captivated by wildlife, she walks 1-2 hours daily in search of Hong Kong’s ‘other’ inhabitants and regularly has encounters with birds, monkeys and buffalos just to mention a few. Her aim is to capture these animals with her inks. She tried to capture the animal’s ‘essence’, conveying their movement and personality by distilling them down to a few lines, drips, smears, splats and splodges.
Sascha’s devoted to her medium of inks and she has spent hours obsessing and perfecting each brush stroke. She meticulously experiments with each brand of ink watching how they react uniquely to different papers, aounts of water and to other brands of inks. Armed with this knowledge she has precisely yet instinctively created her latest body of work.
Sascha’s work is part of many private collections and her work has been exhibited in many galleries across the UK. She currently lives and paints in Sai Kung, Hong Kong.
Sascha has studied Fine Art at Birmingham Institute of Art and Design (BIAD), UK. University of Creative Arts (UCA), UK. BirkBeck College, UK and The Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), Providence, US.
